Fintra beach is a blue flag beach justĀ  a seven minute drive from Killybegs. It lies in a large cove which shelters it from the Atlantic breeze and is an excellent location for bathing and water sports. It is a perfect place for a looped walk around the beach.

Deep Sea Fishing

There are many boats offering Deep Sea Angling from Killybegs, why not give it a go if you have never tried it before. If you have never seen the Cliff at Sliabh Liag, you can’t go home without having a look. They are the hightest sea cliffs in Europe and are sure impress. IYou can walk around the cliffs which can take 3-4 hours or just visit the viewing platform.

For those less energetic there are a number of other recommended walks around killybegs created by the Killybegs Maritime and Heritage Centre Killybegs.


Killybegs is the perfect base for divers, Between the two best diving locations in South Donegal – St Johns Point and Teelin.

Killybegs Maritime & Heritage Centre

Killybegs Maritime and Heritage Visitor Centre in Co. Donegal Ireland offers a unique experience in the Fishing and Carpet making history for visitors who venture to the shores of this picturesque town situated on the Donegal coastline.

Situated within what was once the famous Killybegs Carpet Factory, the Heritage Centre is home to the largest hand-knotted loom in the world. Visitors will see live demonstrations of weaving of the hand-knotted carpets, a chance to meet and talk with one of the few hand-weavers remaining in this part of the country, and enjoy a step-by-step account of how each carpet is individually designed and produced. Visitors are taught the unique craft of hand-knotting, and have the opportunity to try their skills at one of the hand-looms on display in the Factory.
